Following increased pressure from SPAK and political warnings from the opposition, Prime Minister Edi Rama has called an extraordinary meeting with all ministers at the Brigades Palace for Friday. The focus is expected to be on the work balances...
After the strong shocks that SPAK has caused, Edi Rama has taken action. While Sali Berisha on Friday called for a comprehensive meeting to unite against the government, Prime Minister Edi Rama has decided to gather all ministers.
According to sources, the meeting will be held at 10:00 at the Brigades Palace. Rama used this method last year, when in January or July he gathered ministers, holding them accountable for their work, but also giving them clear objectives.
Also this Friday, it is learned that the ministers will present reports on the work carried out so far, taking stock of the achievements, challenges and objectives met.
But unlike in the past, this meeting comes at a delicate moment for the government. The SPAK investigations have hit the executive hard, especially with the last two files, that of the road affairs and that of the AKSHI tenders. A few days ago Rama changed the leadership of KESH, ARRSH, etc. But the call for this meeting has increased suspicions that Rama may also be preparing for changes in the government in the coming days or weeks.
Many of the current ministers have been in office for many years. If we take them in order, the longest-serving minister is Mirela Kumbaro, who has left and returned to the government. Mirela Kumbaro was appointed Minister of Culture in 2013, a post she held for almost 6 years. In 2019, she left, but returned in 2021 to the post of Minister of Environment and Tourism. In September, she moved to Education. So, Kumbaro has been in government for almost 10 years.
After her comes Belinda Balluku, whose fate will be decided in the Assembly, as if her immunity is lifted and she is placed under arrest, she will likely also be removed from her government positions.
Delina Ibrahimaj has been in office for almost 5 years. She was Minister of Finance from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, she was appointed Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, and in 2025, she became Minister of Economy.
Albana Koçiu has been a minister since 2023, initially at Health and then at Order. Meanwhile, we have names like Petrit Malaj, Pirro Vengu or Blendi Gonxhe, who have been ministers since 2024.
So, there is plenty of room for improvement, but let's see what Rama, who is not in a comfortable position, will do.
A week later, on Friday, January 16, Rama will convene the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group at the Brigades Palace at the start of the new parliamentary session, with the aim of coordinating the work in Parliament. /Pamphlet
