Will there be a change in the DP? Fitim Zekthi: The only one who has the

Analyst Fitim Zekthi on the podcast 'Të Pashoq' said that the Democratic Party has its own narrative about the way it does things. Zekthi said that we know what May 11 would produce, including the result, as there is no big difference between 78 or 83 mandates. Zekthi was asked if he expects there to be a change in the DP after the loss of May 11, while emphasizing that he does not expect anything to happen due to the fact that the only one who has the potential to make a change and will not do so is Sali Berisha.

Why did the DP lose so much with Sali Berisha at the helm and the SP win with Edi Rama at the helm?

It failed to become a bearer of hope for the people, it lost because it has its own internal problems, it lost because it failed to make an alliance with the people, and above all it lost because it failed to convince that it will make a change. Berisha has his greatest responsibility, but the responsibility is the way the DP has functioned for at least 15 years. It did electoral tricks, it covered up the problems since 2009. It cannot win without changing, this was not understood by the DP since 2009.

Would there have been a different outcome if someone else had been at the helm of the DP?

Berisha carries the halo of a worn-out man. Berisha had a 25-30% approval rating and a 65-70% disapproval rating. Under these conditions, you can't win the elections no matter what you do. The DP attacked SPAK, attacked the justice reform, using the language of violence doesn't produce change. Whoever was at the head of the DP, Tomor Alizoti, Belind Këlliçi, Jorida Tabaku or anyone else, if they used Berisha's narrative they would lose, maybe not so deeply, but they would perish. An opposition does not exist to denounce corruption. The government can also be denounced by the media, while the opposition must use the right language and convince people to vote for change.

Berisha has no intention of leaving. On the other hand, we have not seen any strong voice demanding Berisha's departure. An analysis is expected in the fall, as is said. Do you expect any developments?

I don't expect it and we shouldn't expect it. The DP has some internal needs. In front of Berisha, everyone is lost, knowing this, they won't do anything. The only one who has the potential to reform the DP and who won't do it is Berisha himself.

The DP's societies and membership need narratives to keep up with the times. The DP has a single physiognomy, a single philosophy, a way of doing things. Everything in this world is a system. The party is a system and every system functions with the principles of the system, which can survive by reproducing with the elements within the system. Whoever goes against the system is eaten by the system itself. So I also say that the only one who has the potential to do this is Berisha, although he will not do it because he will not be able to go against it. Systems are strong, they are not easily changed.
