Will he give the mandate to Shaban? Lapaj changes his mind: The presidency will

The leader of the "Albania Becomes" Movement, Adriatik Lapaj, who won a mandate in the May 11 elections, said that expectations were higher. In an interview with "Report TV", he said that beyond that, they managed to emerge as a third force among so many parties.

According to him, in terms of the party, they have laid sound foundations for the political journey, but in terms of the homeland, they failed to achieve what they thought. For this, Lapaj stated that he feels responsible and that he will make the appropriate reflections in relation to the citizens.

" Expectations were higher, the work we have done has been for a higher result, but this is related to the will of the citizens, as it is a commitment that ultimately depends on the citizen and not just on your performance. It is not an individual sport. If we ask whether we are living up to the expectations we had, the answer is no. If we refer to the results of the Albanian transition, we are the first political force in the entire Albanian transition, as an anti-system force, it has received such a result, in terms of votes there are 64,268 votes, we are ranked out of 3 competitors, it is ranked third in just 8 months of political life. In terms of the movement, sound foundations have been laid for a future positive journey, in relation to the homeland we have not achieved what we set out for. And for this I feel my responsibility and I am making the appropriate reflections. ", Lapaj expressed.

Asked if they will recognize the elections, Lapaj said he will speak at the end of the process. He reiterated a statement of his that he recognizes the current system, despite having reservations, and that he has competed to change it. Lapaj said that he does not blame the people, as otherwise he would leave politics.

" A question that should be asked later because the process is still ongoing. Tomorrow one of the boxes in Vlora will be opened, the day after tomorrow we have the session to open the boxes in Fier, to see the recount. In this regard, the process is ongoing. I have said even before the elections that I am one of those people who know the system as it is and I am competing to change it as much as I can. I cannot come out today and say that I did not know about these problems. They are problems that have existed but it is unfair not to say that they occurred in these elections. At the end of the process we will express ourselves officially, but what are the facts in this process, which are beyond any standard for European integration, is the fact that two days before the elections the government forgave the fines of recent years. With this standard you cannot defeat a government that decides to buy the elections through the law. Do not expect me to blame the people because on the day I do this, I will leave politics. There is no logic. What must be said is that my battle is with the intellectuals of Albania who "At best, they conform and at worst, they are sold out to become partners with the system ," Lapaj added.

Lapaj further said that they have conducted a model campaign, while describing the over 64 thousand votes they received as votes of dignity. Lapaj also emphasized that he is open to cooperation with political factors, while adding that the red line remains justice, meaning Sali Berisha.

" We ran a model, massive campaign throughout the republic. We as a coalition did not focus on the large districts, in Vlora since I originate from Vlora, or in Durrës since it is nearby. We have received 64,268 votes, dignity votes, unscrupulous, unpressured, but also over 15 thousand votes that have been declared invalid, which makes somewhere around 80 thousand wills. 80 thousand wills in a political and economic situation such as Albania's that occurred in these elections, are a lot. Are they enough for change? No. We will continue to do what we have done even better and to give more hope. In this regard, we are open to inviting all factors that represent values to cooperate. The red line is justice ," he said.

Asked if he will take the mandate, Lapaj said that due to his public statement, he will leave it up to the party leadership.

"How many votes did we get? 64,268. With 64,000, the Socialist Party in Vlora has received 9 mandates. What we are doing is that we are in the process, and I will answer for this the day my turn for the mandate from the CEC comes to me because it is a process related to our leadership and structures. I have made a public statement related to the fact that the moment our movement would receive a number of votes that translates into the average of one mandate, it would indicate failure on my part. As long as we are ranked third, these people need to be represented. However, due to my public statement, the decision will no longer be mine but the leadership's. This is something that we will answer for in the future when the process is closed ," Lapaj emphasized.

Asked if he would join the vote with the SP if it comes to integration issues, he said: "We will evaluate them case by case. We are not enemies, but political opponents and for everything related to processes that move the country forward, we cannot become an obstacle to any process that moves the country forward. We will fight hard for the rights of every category."

Regarding the clashes with Agron Shehaj, he said that he does not feel any responsibility. Lapaj added that for months he has been calling for unity, while he said that those who did not accept the unity and were considered a new front should be held responsible.

Lapaj said, among other things, that the clash with Shehaj damaged everyone.

"What we need to do with a sense of responsibility for anyone who did not accept it is to unite those who were considered a new front because there would have been no problem if there had been two opposition fronts, but they were focused. No votes would have been wasted, but we would have maximized our mandates. I fought together with the team for 8 months, we reached out every time I did, let's maximize the vote because the electoral formula is like that, but I received more mud and attacks from those who were considered new than from the government itself . "

Regarding the clash with Shehaj, he added: "It has not only harmed us, but everyone in this matter. Both us, and them. All because the union would create another enthusiasm among the citizens. The formula would stimulate the production of mandates on a mass scale. And a number of mandates could have been produced that would have cracked the system. One party 3 deputies, the other 13 or 15, each in the assembly would have had their own position, but it is a mistake for which I do not feel the weight of responsibility because I fought hard to achieve it. I could hardly take them , "concluded Lapaj.
