Democratic Party candidate Ilir Alimehmeti spoke about the latest post-election developments of May 11. Alimehmeti was asked in the Report TV studio whether Sali Berisha should resign after the defeat, as is apparent after counting over 50% of the votes.
The candidate for MP on the open list for Tirana did not give a direct answer, but emphasized that this issue should be discussed in forums and that he does not have the authority to give this answer.
On the other hand, Alimehmeti has said that he is convinced that he will receive the mandate in Tirana.
"Regardless of how the final outcome goes, there will be an analysis from the highest forums of the party. I am a member of the National Council. First of all, you know that the presidency is convened, so the presidency discusses and brings its part, and then brings it either to the National Assembly or to the National Council. So we will wait for developments in this regard; I will not take a position to speak in this regard. My interest at this moment is as many votes as possible for the DP in the Tirana district. Many analysts have told us that we will not get more than 12 mandates, while today's result shows the opposite - the analysts should apologize to us," said Ilir Alimehmeti.
