Ilir Alimehmeti, candidate for deputy of the Democratic Party, spoke about the mandates and the electoral counting process for candidates in the Tirana district.
Given what DP leader Sali Berisha has said, "we do not accept the mandates of a crime," Alimehmeti was asked whether these mandates will be burned or if it is simply rhetoric that can die down once the new Parliament begins.
" I am still actively in the dynamic counting process, I am not burning stages. The electoral process is still on. There is still a discussion of mandates, especially in Tirana. We are in the middle of the counting process, from where not even half of the boxes in the Tirana district have been counted."
I thank the observers and commissioners for their hard work. And we have an interest in this process being completed as soon as possible, as this is also in the public interest.
"We have seen many things happen in the campaign, even on election day, and we have a fact that the OSCE/ODIHR report says about the negative and positive and illegal elements in the elections. This includes the forgiveness of fines just a few days before the elections by Edi Rama ," Alimehmeti told Euronews Albania.
