The national protest called by the Democratic Party in front of the Prime Minister's Office began with a speech by renowned actress Rajmonda Bulku, who recalled one of the most important moments in the country's history.
As opposition supporters and sympathizers from across the country gathered in the square, Bulku recalled February 20, 1991 and the student strike, describing it as a key moment in the fall of the communist regime.
"I thank you for wanting a word from me today, to remember that historic day of February 20, 1991, when we were all attached to the heroic strike of our students. With them, we were not afraid. We fought against an army that, let's not forget, had the Communist Party at its head," she said.
The actress emphasized that at that time a spirit of unity and courage prevailed in the face of a system that, according to her, had denied freedoms for years.
"We all had a spirit together, we put away our fear and took our courage because we wanted freedom, we wanted to overthrow the system that had oppressed us and taken away our freedom for many years," Bulku declared.
She continued, calling for that spirit to return today. "I want to remember that spirit that we bring here today, that desire to live beautifully in our beautiful Albania and make it possible for our lives, our children and grandchildren, to live better in their country because it belongs to them. Let them not abandon this blessed country. God has blessed Albania and may He bless the Albanians as well," the actress concluded.
The protest continues with widespread participation, while organizers emphasize the need for change, unity, and civic engagement.
