The Chairman of the Nisma Thurje, Endrit Shabani, has today officially requested the holding of an urgent interpellation with the delegated Mayor of the Municipality, Anduela Ristani.
The request comes after reports made public on the investigative show "Piranja", which alleged that an official vehicle of the Municipality of Tirana was used to transport Ristan's family members, in violation of the law and the ethics of public office.
In the official document addressed to the Municipal Council, Shabani emphasizes that "The Municipality is not private property and public funds are not for the service of the families of those in power."
He adds that transparency is not a choice, but a legal obligation, while abuse of office constitutes a criminal offense provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
In addition to the interpellation, Shabani also requested that the Municipality make available to the Council a complete list of vehicles owned by it, information on the persons who use these vehicles, as well as official registers of movements and itineraries, as required by the legislation in force.
Shabani demands that the Municipal Council take its responsibility and call a hearing and exercise its constitutional function of control and transparency.
