Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj has decided to break his silence and speak to the media for the first time since he left the country, after the accusations brought against him by SPAK. He appeared today in an interview to speak openly. Ahmetaj said that the entire attack against him was a script prepared long ago. In "Syri Tv" he said that it was a threefold battle for him; political, political-media and political-legal. He said that the incinerators were a pretext, since they started hitting him inside the party some time ago. He said that it was Rama who took him out of the SPAK ambush.
- The first question for Arben Ahmetaj is, why did you leave Albania and not stay to face justice?
Ahmetaj: Thank you Mr. Peka for the interview. I answered your request for an interview for a very simple reason. First and foremost, to my knowledge, you are the television of... you are one of the few televisions not financed by incinerators. The battle against me has been a threefold battle; political, political-media and political-legal. The bed has been political, then legal-media has been according to the instrumentalization and the moment. I also wanted to clarify to all those who are interested, I did not escape from Albania, as someone who tries to pretend to be knowledgeable or well-informed claims, neither did anyone allow me to leave, nor did anyone help me to leave... the moment that I learned that my immunity was required, it was July 8 or 9, I was with my family outside Albania for vacation. And I want to clarify to the Albanians that I was prepared for the extremity from the moment it started, because the Albanians think that it started with the mercenary who appeared before SPAK, with the paid by the incinerators who appeared before SPAK. No. It started earlier.
- We will talk about it, but since it started and you clarified the moment they considered it an escape. You were with your family outside Albania, when your immunity was requested. So you did not escape, no one helped you to escape. So you have not been to Albania. My question is, were you informed that there would be a request for your immunity and you had taken the measures, you had fled earlier.
Zero. I had faith in myself, but not in justice. I know what I have done.
- So you expected such a thing, it was not a surprise.
Asking for the immunity of a deputy, former minister, former deputy prime minister, as has happened in 30 years in Albania, is no longer a surprise or a surprise. This happened in the framework of the new justice, where at the end of three months the arrest of the former deputy prime minister is requested...
- This is what impresses me, because the immunity request for you is in record time, only three months from the start of the investigations. How did you know that this extreme measure would be required of you so soon? While your colleagues or former colleagues have been investigated for years and there is no request for them. You were shot outside of Albania and then never returned, or did you have an indication that extreme measures would be taken against you, there is a political postponement and you had taken measures earlier to face justice at a distance and not physically.
First, I never thought that I would face justice in Albania, in this form. So in a new justice, I would leave him because of the political influence of the 'new' justice. But moreover, I never thought that such a file would be created with political inspiration, and that's why I started the discussion before, to show that it didn't start with the mercenary. The attack on me started much earlier, in all three lanes.
- We are not talking about escaping, but about facing justice at a distance.
No one helped me or gave me any hints. On the contrary, at the moment when my immunity was requested, practically all my colleagues were afraid to sit down and drink coffee with me, as in the time of the long distance. The second, which is just as important, no one helped me to leave either, because I was away at the time when immunity was requested. To be honest, I expected it to become an extremity, I had seen all the political inspiration, sometime from the fall of 2023. I thought that, however, that political push, that systemic hatred that the instrument of justice SPAK showed, almost, almost personal that I often did not understand, I even asked myself questions, how is it possible that a justice that we have passionately aspired to be a new justice, is based on violations of human rights, is based on violated procedures, is based in the political ambush by my former leader, the current prime minister, and we will come to that, I would not have thought that they would have the statistical impatience to earnestly show my former political leader that you wait, we killed him. I thought it would be fall and I was spiritually prepared. Mr. Peka, when I read the file, of course the indications were partial and I tried to make the whole panorama. The file is based on assumptions and not facts. During the interview with you, I am ready to take everything one by one. I lost faith in SPAK and I'm afraid, I hope I don't lose faith in all the supposed new justice. Well said, High Inspector of Justice Metani, that is not a new justice, it is a new structure with the same people. I left with my family for vacation, I refused to return to Albania, when my immunity was requested, because I knew that my whole attack was initiated with a political orientation.
