The member of the Municipal Council of Tirana as a representative of the Democratic Party, Ilir Alimehmeti has spoken about the situation of the opposition.
According to him, a union of democrats is possible as long as they have a common goal.
Alimehmeti said that the union must start from the bottom.
"I consider it possible to unite the democrats as long as they are united by a common goal. When you are faced with a great evil, people come together. When you are in the opposition, there is no sense in dividing. I think there was a problem where internal pluralism was not allowed.
All this time I have said that the tops of the mountains do not burn, they join at the base. Democracy comes from the bottom up, not from the top down. Unification is needed, but it must start from the bases that the ruling elites choose. Names must be common and have no previous receipts. We are at war with time at the moment", said Alimehmeti.
He also spoke about the case of former Prime Minister Berisha, saying that it is politically motivated.
However, according to Alimehmet, the Democrats are wasting time with this issue.
"We are wasting time not only with Mr. Berisha's case, which will lead nowhere, except for this bubble that led him to house arrest. It is politically motivated, but there is energy that is lost there, there is no discussion", he said, among other things, in the interview for News 24.
