The deputy of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj, commenting on the situation of the opposition, stated that the DP needs to find a new candidate for president.
Invited to the studio of the show "Open" on News24, Gjekmarkaj said that today the PD does not have a party leader, as he added that the Democratic Party should come up with a symbolic candidate for prime minister. According to him, the candidate should not be former prime minister Sali Berisha, or Lulzim Basha.
Parts of the Agron Gjekmarkaj-Arion Sulo debate:
Gjekmarkaj : I say that DP after 2 years can never be what it was before. We have to get used to other forms of coexistence of this party. Today we are not in a fit state to face the majority. Regarding the US statements about non-women, I want to say that I have had several meetings with Mrs. Kim and the line has been the same. "We want a strong opposition and our position is the same." Regarding Berisha, I think he has closed this era. The PD should produce a symbolic candidate for prime minister. Where Berisha should not be, not Basha, as we have seen 4 times. However, Berisha is the main contributor to the opposition in Albania.
Sulo : You are in a political position.
Gjekmarkaj: No, I am not in a political position.
Sulo : Who is your leader in the party today? Who is the president of the DP?
Gjekmarkaj : Today our party does not have a leader. Therefore, the opposition must unite and produce a candidate for prime minister.
Sulo : You who went...
Gjekmarkaj : Give us your recipe and we will end the debate and the show.
