Bajram Begaj's departure to the USA to participate in the UN meeting seems to have ended at the level of a scandal.
Begaj, who has never appeared in an interview with the media and has never held a press conference with journalists, has taken with him the entire army of advisers and the woman's hairdresser. We do not know what they will advise Bajram about, but we hope they will enlighten him, since in Albania they have not achieved anything with their advice.
However, the problem is not only that Begaj has taken his wife, son and hairdresser with him, but all the staff will benefit from the state budget. On average, a US-Albania round-trip ticket costs $2,000, plus food and hotel expenses, etc. All of this will be covered by the budget of the Presidency, which has actually let go completely since Bajram Bey took office.
Begaj became president in July last year. "Pamphlet" has made a verification of the expenses incurred from September 2022 to September 2023 for trips abroad to the Presidency and it appears that Bajram Begaj has spent nearly 200 million old ALL. More precisely, 18,586,796 went to plane tickets, per diems and other expenses. If we include the expenses of the last few weeks, it is certain that we will reach the quota of 20 million new lek.
The data were provided by "Opendata Albania" on treasury transactions. It is noted that the highest spending boom occurred during 2023, which amounts to over 160 million old ALL. To be more precise, in the summer months, the Presidency has become home to travel. We do not know if Begaj and his staff used the post to take vacations or traveled for work. / Pamphlet
