The Assembly of the Greek Chambers of Advocacy reacted immediately after the Special Court of Appeal today left Fredi Beleri in jail, accused of buying and selling votes.
Today's decision of the court rejects for the sixth time Fredi Beler's request to change the security measure.
In the reaction of the Assembly of Greek Chambers of Advocacy, it is emphasized that, according to them, this decision is in violation of three articles in the European Convention of Human Rights, as well as in violation of the principle of proportionality.
"Edi Rama should allow Beler to take the oath as elected president. In fact, there is no court decision that prevents Beler from taking the oath," the reaction continues.
Meanwhile, today's appeal session was attended by the Greek ambassador Kostandina Kamitsi and the head of PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule. A day before, it was the Greek Prime Minister, Mitsotakis, who demanded the release of Beler, saying that this issue is casting a shadow on the relations between the two countries.
On September 14, the Special Court against Organized Crime and Corruption decided to proceed with the trial of the case of Beler, who was arrested on the charge of active corruption in the elections. Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 local elections. According to the prosecution, he offered money in exchange for votes in his favor.
