Former MP Ervin Salianji has responded to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, after the latter declared today that he will not run against Salianji, as he has self-excluded himself.
In his reaction on the social network 'Facebook', Salianji stated that no one is above the Constitution of the DP. According to him, the Constitution of the DP has no self-exclusions, while emphasizing that he will continue to represent without hindrance and despite the real concerns of the Democrats.
"No one is above the Constitution of the Democratic Party, approved by the membership by vote! The lack of seriousness towards the many Democrats who think differently is a serious blunder. All participants in my meetings are 24-carat democrats. They deserve only respect and gratitude," Salijanj's message reads.

The Democratic Party needs clarity. The Democratic Party needs to become a winner. It owes this to the Democrats, after 13 years of opposition. This is the expectation of all Albanians who want and expect rotation. The unification of the Democrats and the entire opposition around it should be the most serious effort to make the Democratic Party a winner.
This goal is clearly foreseen in the statute and with responsibility in case of loss and privileges in case of victory. The constitution of the Democrats does not even have "self-exclusions". I will continue to represent without hindrance and with all my real concern the Democrats! Their will for unity, for dignity and for a winning Democratic Party.
