DP leader Sali Berisha, during a meeting with branch leaders, stated that this is the most defining year for the future of Albania.
Berisha said that the main purpose of the meeting was preparations for January 24 and the mobilization of the DP structures.
He stated that the opposition, despite an unequal battle, has managed to denounce to Albanians and the international community the reality of what he called a narco-state and electoral autocracy.
According to him, the government controls most of the media and has influenced international perception through costly lobbying.
He underlined that the Democratic Party has secured the adoption of seven international resolutions denouncing the unconstitutional concentration of power and links to crime.
Berisha called for maximum commitment, emphasizing that this year will be decisive for change and the return of democracy.
Berisha: This meeting, this gathering has two main purposes of great importance. We have gathered today for the preparations that we need to make for January 24. For each of you, for each of you, for every member of the Democratic Party, for every opposition member, it must be clear that this is the year of great testing, this is the year of the greatest challenge that we have ever had in our political life, this is the most defining year for our future and the future of Albania.
We start this year after an unequal battle, a difficult battle, we have emerged, we have emerged to successfully present to Albanians and the international community the dramatic truths of the narco-state, the authoritarian dictatorship or the electoral autocracy of Edi Rama.
It was not a simple thing, it was a very difficult thing due to the fact that, as you know, the coprolalia propaganda that he has built in the country by placing over 90% of the media under control in exchange for payments, in exchange for bribes, in order to deceive Albanian citizens and glorify evil, to protect crime, theft, drugs and electoral farce, that same deception he has undertaken, it must also be said, not without success in the international community.
With his lobbying of tens, hundreds of millions of euros to various officials like McGonigal, Mogherini, Coldea and others, and others, their list is certainly very long and we don't know, but we learn that these are the ones who cause accidents.
He has done everything, he has created a shield around his criminal activity as the leader, the patron of the most dangerous state criminal organization in Europe, which is his government. We reached seven international resolutions in a 14-month period, approved and signed by all parties of our political spectrum in Europe, in the United States and around the world.
We managed to truthfully present the main ugly features of Edi Rama's narco-dictatorship, his authoritarian dictatorship. We managed to prove to the world that this demon of power has more powers concentrated in his hands, in an unconstitutional and anti-legal manner, than the last communist dictator in Albania.
That this demon of power controls in every cell, through connections with crime and drugs, the power in Albania. We managed to prove that this is a fierce enemy of pluralism who uses his Dumans against political pluralism in Albania, uses his Dumans as a license for ugly electoral crimes.
We managed to prove to others his connections with Sinaloa in Mexico, with other groups of traffickers in Albania, in Europe and in the world.
