Sali Berisha gave a clear and strong message during today's meeting with the heads of the branches of the Democratic Party: the DP will be cleansed of individuals who collaborate with the Socialist Party, or who use the opposition as a springboard for personal gain.
" Certain individuals, who for the sake of their businesses have collaborated with our opponent, they have absolutely no place in the Democratic Party. They should go to their criminal party. Flirting with the criminal party is a crime against the opposition. There are not many of them, as many as there are ," said Berisha, issuing a warning about a wave of expulsions from the party's ranks.
He stressed that this is not a personal vendetta, but a necessary process for the cleansing and refreshing of the political force, on the eve of future battles. Berisha also focused on the behavior of some branch leaders who, according to him, withdrew from the May 11 campaign because they were not on the lists of candidates for deputies.
" Those who do not work on the campaign cannot claim leadership positions. The party does not owe you anything, even if it has made a mistake. Please, take a break, calm down ," he said.
Berisha closed with a firm message: " They will not be elected in forums. No, they cannot be elected ," ruling out the return to office of those who, according to him, have betrayed the trust of the membership or have been influenced by personal interests.
