The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a "speech" with supporters in the Astir area of Tirana. He repeated the call for participation in the May 8 protest, describing this moment as decisive for the opposition.
In his speech, Berisha emphasized that the opposition is in a final phase of political confrontation.
"We are in the last kilometer. Again, the road is difficult, but absolutely, Edi Rama is hopeless. He is hopeless! And we will make this kilometer. We will make it, for our sacrifice!", said the chief democrat.
He linked the protest to the future of the country and the call for civic mobilization. "We will do it, for our children and their future! We will do it, for the dignity of Albanians, for the future of Albania! May 8 is our day!", declared Berisha.
The leader of the DP used harsh language against the government, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of damaging the country's interests.
"On May 8, in the streets and squares of Tirana, we will tell Albanians that we are the masters of Albania, and not the gang in power!", he said.
He further added that the protest will also be a message to international partners.
"On May 8, we will tell the world, Europe and the world, that values, rights, have an invincible advocate, we are," said Berisha.
In conclusion, Berisha once again called on citizens to join the protest. "All of us on May 8th, let us rise up majestically, in our peaceful protest, in our right to our dignity ," he concluded.
