Moderator and former DP MP Grida Duma spoke about the current situation in the Democratic Party and the process for electing the leader, raising concerns about the lack of competition and internal developments in the party. According to her, the DP is facing a deep internal crisis.
"It is wrong that the DP is declaring its own death. It is not incurable," said Duma, adding that the lack of rivalry within the party is a negative signal.
She emphasized that it is incomprehensible that after a long period in opposition, there is no alternative to Sali Berisha.
"How can there be no candidate facing you in the elections? 13 years have passed and after 13 years of entering and leaving the party, there is no serious person to run against Berisha, so the political ambition within it has died," Grida declared for "TCH".
Duma noted that external factors, such as political opponents, also benefit from this situation, but emphasized that the main responsibility remains within the DP itself.
"It makes no sense for Edi Rama or anyone else not to benefit from the opponent's self-destruction, it's normal," she said.
In her analysis, she also criticized the party's leadership and the repetition of old political models.
"Berisha is wrong because there is a law in life, that when you are used to certain reflexes, you repeat the same ones," said Duma.
She also raised questions about the meaning of the electoral process under these conditions. "What is the point of May 23 when it is already known who will be the president?" the former MP added.
Duma warned that this situation could have a wider impact on the political scene, adding that similar developments could also affect the Socialist Party in the future.
