Berisha challenges Rama: There is a file that he cannot close
Sali Berisha

Opposition leader Sali Berisha challenged Prime Minister Edi Rama from the podium of the Democratic Party's National Assembly, declaring that the DP will never allow the Balluku file to be closed.

According to Berisha, Doja Balluku is the prime minister himself.

"Look at their roads built 13 years ago and the roads of Rama-Balluku like straw, how they collapse one after another. It has never happened, it has never been imagined that SPAK would request the immunity of a deputy prime minister and the prime minister protects him. That Rama protects his crimes. I want to say here; you think you closed the files, but we will never close those files. Edi Rama, our battle will be the one you have never seen. You have been caught as a vote looter, a thief of funds, you have zero legitimacy!", he said.

Berisha accused the government and other international actors of waging a campaign to weaken the opposition, citing the loss of the party’s official symbolism, financial constraints and political isolation as part of this effort. According to him, the Democrats did not retreat in the face of difficulties, but continued the political battle in defense of pluralism and democratic values. He recalled the mobilization of PD supporters at key moments, describing it as evidence of the stability of the political force he leads.

The leader of the Democrats said that in a relatively short period, the party managed to restore contacts and support from the center-right's international partners. According to him, important European and world political organizations have adopted resolutions in support of the Albanian opposition's causes and have raised concerns about political developments in the country.

Berisha thanked representatives of the European and conservative political family for their support for the DP, also mentioning the role of European institutions and delegations that have followed the political situation in Albania.

In conclusion, he said that the period of political conflict and isolation is a chapter that the Democrats have left behind, while praising the resilience of the party members. "The history of these years showed that the Democratic Party did not give up and refused to disappear. You have proven that you are a force that knows how to resist and rise again after every challenge," Berisha said before the delegates of the National Assembly.
