The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has brought about a profound reconfiguration of the National Council, leaving out a considerable number of well-known figures of the Democrats from the new list.
From comparing the current composition with the list of candidates that will be subject to voting in the National Assembly, it results that about 38 members of the National Council have not run for re-election for the new mandate.
Among the names missing from the new list are former minister Aldo Bumçi, former MP Arben Imami, Andi Mustafaj, actor Bujar Kapexhiu, Rudina Hajdari, Robert Budina, Voltana Ademi and Julian Deda.
The movement is seen as part of a process of renewing the leadership structures of the Democratic Party, while the National Assembly is expected to elect the new composition of one of the party's most important forums.
Meanwhile, deputies and branch presidents are automatically members of the Council.
