The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, also used the phrase he has been repeating for months at the party's National Assembly that the DP is in the "last kilometer" towards victory. A formula that he has used continuously since the start of the opposition protests, but which has so far not been accompanied by concrete political developments that would bring Edi Rama's removal from power closer.
During his speech to the delegates, Berisha declared that the opposition has overcome all obstacles and that Prime Minister Edi Rama has now been placed in the "red circle." According to him, the Democrats' battle will continue until Rama leaves the government, while the renewal of the Democratic Party remains a condition for political change in the country.
"Today we are a political force in the last kilometer, in the kilometer that is walking towards victory. In this kilometer, the last of this marathon, we have very important tasks. We overcame all the barricades that were put in front of us, we put the narco-dictator in the red circle. Somewhere they call him Ramaduro, somewhere Edi Balluku, while we will remove him from power at any cost. Democrats, here we are to tell Albanians that for us the national flag will remain at half-mast as long as the flag of the free vote of Albanians waves next to it. Our battle is a battle for the flag, national dignity and for the freedom of Albanians", declared Berisha.
