Sali Berisha, leader of the Democratic Party, spoke at the campaign opening rally.
He appeared tearful as he said that Albania is magnificent, describing its citizens as those who love their homeland and the values of freedom. Berisha also harshly criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Tonight I am more excited than ever. Great Albania is the Albania of your soul, it is the Albania of your love for it, of love for family and the ideals of freedom.
