The election of the People's Advocate has once again created debate today in the Laws Committee.
During today's session, the chairman of the Laws Committee, Ulsi Manja, read the names of all candidates who have secured the signatures of deputies.
Meanwhile, at this moment he has encountered opposition from Democratic MP Gent Strazimiri, because the DP has withdrawn the signatures for all candidates in the race.
Debt to the Commission:
Ulsi Manja: The candidates who have secured 28 signatures of deputies are: Adriana Kalaja, Aranita Brahaj, Besim Ndregjoni, Skëndër Haluci, Tartar Bazaj, Endri Shabani. Under these conditions, the Assembly reviews the proposal and conducts the vote within 1 week of the submission of the relevant report.
Strazimiri: The presentation you made is incomplete. The MPs have withdrawn their support for all the candidates in the race for Ombudsman.
Meanwhile, the valid candidacies are 6:
-Ardiana Kalaja 44 firms
-Aranita Brahaj 35 firms
-Besim Ndregjoni 34 firms
-Endrit Shabani 35 firms
-Skënder Haluci 30 firms
-Tartar Bazaj 28 firms
Jola Hysaj, lawyer Saimir Vishaj and Shkëlqim Sulo were excluded after not securing sufficient signatures (28 signatures), while Dardan Mustafaj submitted his candidacy outside the specified deadline.
The process for electing the People's Advocate continues to be a 'stalemate' after the Democratic Party withdrew its signatures one day after the candidacies were announced. Meanwhile, the Socialist Party does not recognize this act, arguing that the withdrawal of signatures was made outside the deadline.
The DP suddenly announced the withdrawal of the signatures with the argument that the signatures were given before the candidates passed the filter of the Laws Committee. The DP supports this argument in a letter that the chairman of the Laws Committee, Ulsi Manja, sent on November 17, stating that a deputy cannot sign for more than one candidate.
There was also a clash in the committee over this issue, while Ulsi Manja said that the Speaker of the Assembly was informed about the withdrawal of signatures, not the committee, which is only responsible for closing the procedure.
