US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met today in Tel Aviv after the Hamas attacks.
Antony Blinken stated that Hamas does not represent the Palestinians.
Blinken said that Hamas has only one agenda, to destroy Israel.
He underlined that anyone who has committed crimes, threatens peace and justice, must be punished.
"Europe, Asia, Africa, the American continent, no region has escaped Hamas. Anyone who threatens peace and justice must be punished. We know that Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people, or even their hopes for continued measures of freedom, opportunity, and dignity. Hamas, instead of promoting the welfare of its people, governs with terror, attacks with rockets.
We know that Hamas did not commit barbaric crimes with the people of Palestine in mind. Hamas has only one agenda, to destroy Israel, no country can or should tolerate the barbaric killing of citizens. Israel has the right to defend itself," Blinken emphasized.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu thanked Blinken for his visit, in both English and Hebrew.
"Your visit is another tangible example of America's unequivocal support for Israel," he told Blinken.
Netanyahu further emphasized that through this weekend's attack, "Hamas has shown itself to be an enemy of civilization."
