Trump's order reaches Albania, the 'money tap' is turned off...
The list of Albanian institutions affected by Donald Trump's executive order to suspend aid funds to US allied countries has been revealed.
As soon as he took office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order temporarily suspending all foreign assistance programs by the United States for 90 days in order to review and determine whether they are consistent with his policy objectives.
The order, among many executive orders that Mr. Trump signed on his first day back in office, stated that " foreign aid and bureaucracy are not aligned with American interests and in many cases inconsistent with American values ."
Consequently, Mr. Trump declared that " no more foreign aid will be given unless it is fully consistent with the foreign policy of the President of the United States ."
Secretary of State Marco Rubio sent a message to US embassies around the world clarifying the implementation of the order, and the US embassy in Tirana immediately sent a letter to Albanian institutions, informing them of the suspension of funds.
The letter also contains a list of institutions affected by this withdrawal. It was initially sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where it states, among other things: " Program partners and implementers of U.S.-funded assistance programs in Albania are being notified of this action. This document serves as official notification to the Government of the Republic of Albania. The Embassy of the United States of America kindly requests that this notification be shared with all relevant ministries, institutions, and other government entities that cooperate through existing U.S. foreign assistance programs ."
