Which oligarch is next to be declared a strategic investor? SP approves the
Production Activity Committee

The Socialist Party extends the deadlines of the law on strategic investments until December 31, 2026...

The Committee on Productive Activities approved the extension of the deadlines for the law on strategic investments. A controversial law that has caused more damage to the country than it has helped attract investments.

The law was supposed to expire at the end of December, but a draft by Socialist MP Pranvera Resulaj suddenly went to the Parliament, which aims to extend the effects until December 31, 2026. The law has also undergone several changes, in order to justify the extension of the effects.

" This amendment aims to: add new definitions regarding the types of decision-making of the Strategic Investment Committee (SIC), change the destination of income from applications for status by moving it to the agency's budget, add the notion of following up on projects approved according to the action plan of projects approved according to SIC decisions, change the provision for making the seashore available, which will be approved by a SIC Decision after the tourist structures are put into operation, extend the deadline for submitting requests from interested investment entities for inclusion in the procedures for obtaining the status "Strategic investment/investor, assisted/special procedure", in implementation of Law No. 55/20 15, "On strategic investments in the Republic of Albania", until December 31, 2026, and make adjustments to the transitional provision ", emphasizes the MP in the report.

The opposition came out against the draft. MP Helidon Bushati expressed concern that these changes could favor the construction of residential towers, a sector that does not produce other concrete values for the economy, and criticized that the current government has not yet managed to attract foreign investment at the level of 2012, when the previous government achieved a higher performance in this field.

" Every tower built in the capital has an investment value of over 50 million euros. Construction is the only sector that was not included in the assisted procedure. Why should the state provide assistance to a person who will build a tower to sell for 8 times the cost of building it. It produces nothing ," declared Bushati.

Bushati also stressed that this government has not yet managed to attract foreign investment at the same level as the democratic government in 2012. " You have not yet managed to reach the level of 2012 ," he said.

The question now is: Who will be the next oligarch to be declared a strategic investor? Is there any businessman, artist or politician left for Rama to not give state property and offer benefits to? /Pamphlet
