The leader of "Albania Becomes", Adriatik Lapaj, in a press conference after clashes with his ally Endri Shabani over the mandate of MP in Tirana, clarified the family ties of the candidates they had placed on the closed lists in the May 11 elections.
As Lapaj indicated, Ana Dajko, who ran in Tirana, is the mother of one of the candidates on the open list, while Kleana Xhuveli, who ran in Vlora, is Lapaj's first cousin.
Meanwhile, Zeqir Kordhoni is Endri Shabani's uncle, whom Lapaj accuses of blocking him from going to Parliament, but according to him, he should take the mandate of "Albania Becomes" to Edi Rama.
"You are clear that the closed lists are set to be burned and I had faith that it would happen differently, unfortunately Mr. Kordhoni is blocking it.
All those on the list are relatives of the candidates, Dajko, the mother of one of our candidates in Vlora, Xhuveli is my first cousin and was included in the Tirana list to burn the list.
The whole point is that Kordhoni, Shaban's uncle, has the goal of preventing Adriatiku from entering Parliament and preventing the open list from being applied. There is no problem who gets the mandate. But, we cannot leave that mandate to Kordhoni so that he can go and take it to Edi Rama to make 84 mandates.
"Rama has tried for the past two months to bring me into his fold, but I have not accepted. This is being done to stop me on this path and we, as a movement, want competition and meritocracy," said Lapaj.
