Democratic MP Agron Gjekmarkaj said he was surprised by EU Commissioner Marta Kos, whom he did not expect to side with the government at the conference with the statement she made regarding the May 11 elections.
According to Gjekmarkaj, the commissioner should have referred better to the OSCE-ODIHR report and not focused only on the phrase "the elections were competitive."
"I had the opportunity to speak personally with Mrs. Marta Kos the day before the conference, as well as with the EU Ambassador, Silvio Gonzato, to express to her all the concerns of the opposition and the country, making her aware and I can say what I told her, as I cannot speak about what she told me. It surprised me, because I did not expect her to take a side, considering the concerns of the OSCE-ODIHR report, which refutes May 11 ", the Deputy Speaker of Parliament said in "News 24".
While underlining that the conversation with the commissioner had been private and could not be fully disclosed, Gjekmarkaj stated that he had informed her of all his concerns, which he had also listed in a press statement.
" The conversations are kept private, but I spoke openly with her and then I also made a press statement on this issue. Most of the report refutes the situation of the elections except for the term that they were competitive, so Ms. Kos should have referred to that report better. Her statement, where she said that we had free and fair elections, while the OSCE report refutes this, Ms. Kos should have spared herself and Albania such a comment, which seemed more like a favor to the Prime Minister ", continued the DP deputy leader.
