The Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj, spoke about the DP's relationship with SPAK, where he said that the opposition's position is often misunderstood.
Gjekmarkaj stated that the Democratic Party has always respected institutions and court decisions, even in cases where it has disagreed with them.
" The DP as a whole recognizes all state forms and when it disagrees with them, it has recognized the decisions of the courts. We are not a parastatal society. No matter how much we have complaints against decisions that seem unreasonable to us, we have followed these decisions and this is healthy for any democratic society, " he declared.
Speaking about SPAK's work, Gjekmarkaj emphasized that the DP's assessment has never been uniform or ideological, but based on concrete cases.
" There are prosecutors who do their job with dignity, but there are also others who may have political influence. It is logical to judge case by case. If you have a template judgment, it is like accepting a taboo in a society where everyone is free ," he said.
The Democratic MP underlined that the DP had objections on certain issues, but at the same time gave full support to other actions of SPAK, considering this approach as the most fair and constructive for an institutional opposition.
" We have judged SPAK in the entirety of its work. We have had objections in some cases, but we have provided support when we have seen fair decisions ," Gjekmarkaj concluded on the show "This Week."
