Ilir Demaliaj, commenting on political developments in the country, but not only that, but also SPAK's attacks on the political level, says that Edi Rama had no 'finger' in the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Demaliaj says that after Veliaj's arrest, Rama was shocked, as he practically lost the number 2 position in the SP.
Invited to the show 'Frontline Interview', Demaliaj says that Veliaj is an electoral machine and Rama would not be interested in arresting him before the May 11 elections.
"Absolutely not, the Albanian media talk about conspiracy theories. Rama was not interested, Veliaj is an electoral machine. He is a powerful and hardworking man in this regard. Before the elections, how could he be interested, this showed Rama's shock, he did not expect such a thing. It is normal that he was shocked, that number 2 is arrested," said Demaliaj.
He says that SPAK should function based on the rights it has, but it cannot clean up as it pleases.
While he dwells on the files of January 21 and Gërdec, saying that they were left in a drawer while people were killed. According to Demaliaj, SPAK cannot have absolute power and emphasizes that an audit of this institution is needed.
"The blows that SPAK is giving have shocked. Berisha is putting this pressure on because he knows what he has done, that there is a case of January 21, the guy has the case of Gërdec where people were killed. SPAK has put these on the shelf. Will they go to Berisha, at a time when Strasbourg has said that January 21 should be opened? These are issues that have greatly burdened Albanian society and have not allowed justice to develop. When Berisha dies, it doesn't matter how much you sentence him. If we are going to strike like the prosecutions of communism once did, even if you are guilty, the prosecutor must prove it, and the court gives the decision, the prosecutor is equal in a courtroom.
This SPAK needs an audit, because it cannot be uncontrollable. There is none in any country in the world. January 21 is a murder and murder is not subject to a statute of limitations, why is it not being opened, why is the case not being opened. People have been killed. Justice delayed is justice forgotten," said Demaliaj.
He says that there are two groups in SPAK, one with proxies who want to work directly and one with Sali Berisha's people. The analyst says that Berisha wants to dissolve SPAK to lose his tracks and wants to save his family.
"How can this dissolve justice, but an institution cannot be given absolute power. SPAK should be an organism that functions for the rights it has, but SPAK cannot clean up as it wants. Let's continue with the '92 government. Let's see where the assets are. Let's go see the houses, let's justify the money. Either there should be a fiscal amnesty, or let's go to jail, because some of the mother and some of the stepmother don't have it. Or all of them together, because corruption didn't come yesterday.
There are two groups in SPAK, one person who will work and the other side, which is the opposition and Berisha has his people in SPAK. The way the information flows, how Berisha receives it, whoever it is, even Dumani should not be removed, but should be punished for 24 hours. SPAK has no duty to enter political games, because SPAK cannot decide who will govern this country, but SPAK can establish justice. Why does he say he will dissolve it, that he will lose his traces. His fight is to save his family, "emphasizes Demaliaj.
