Former president Bamir Topi, while commenting on the situation in the DP, compared the party to a sick person who is languishing in bed while adding that there is a need for reorganization, but not after an individual.
Topi said that PD has turned into a party that no longer inspires, and such a party, according to him, no longer has the power to rotate.
The former president, invited to "Frontline", also spoke about the deputies and the movements being made for the parliamentary elections of 2025, where he said that they have become the worst example of a politician, who fights for a seat as a shelter in Parliament, turning into salarymen, with fat salaries already after the salary increase.
Excerpts from the studio discussion:
Bamir Topi: The more time passes, the more the clinic appears, like a disease that does not show itself fully at the beginning. Now we see a patient in bed languishing.
In politics, he who does not anticipate undertakes unnecessary journeys, which in many cases end in the abyss. I see an eloquent case where a party that has its own history comes and we cover the history of DP with negative moments, but its history is beautiful.
If we go back in time, we see that there are many successes.
In 1995 it became part of the Council of Europe, then the journey towards NATO, the liberalization of visas, the independence of Kosovo where we also had our part.
Following this path, we are at a stage where this trap, to which the drowned and people without personality try to cling, has no chance.
The fact that they continue to have their own groups, I see that they will continue to cling to the sigla, someone will create another party, they will either go to the sigla or the meaning will be aligned, and this will confuse people more. According to these "enlightened minds" this is going very badly.
What about factions, Mr. Berisha's Statute seems to be more liberal in this part?
Bamir Topi: The history of Mr. Berisha's factions is a worn-out theory. He has always said, the factions not from the statutory point of view but from the point of view of internal democracy. The life of forums within PD was more organized, but factions and special voices could be allowed, but decision-making was a function of numbers. In a fragmented formation, the faction is worthless.
Do you think there could be a logo revival?
Bamir Topi: Coming here talking about the weak situation of DP, fills me with autosuggestion. It seems to me that I come with a desire to criticize, I come with a desire for a political analysis.
The need for reorganization is felt, but not after an individual because people are filled with the traumatic situations of that party, with the eliminations of the political elite there.
Bamir Topi: Parliament bureaucrats who know that in this state they cannot make political rotation, but everyone is playing for themselves to have a seat and a shelter in Parliament. This is the lowest level of a salaried politician in Parliament.
