"Dibra United or Dibra Origin", Rama with farmers: Don't listen
Edi Rama

Following the 'Works of Albania' tour, Prime Minister Edi Rama stopped in Dibër to meet with farmers in this area, from where he announced the creation of united agricultural societies.

Accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Andis Salla, Rama said that these societies are similar to cooperatives, but not with the former model, but according to the European Union model.

" United Agricultural Societies are not like the cooperatives of the past, but like EU cooperatives."

The EU operates with cooperatives, but they are different from those of communism. In the EU, each produces independently and everyone sells together. By selling together, they create a large volume, but on the other hand, we harmonize all the production activity since they plant with one seed, then share the costs of working the land, caring for the production and then collect, package and sell.

"United agricultural societies, that's what they're called in the law to avoid the great fear that comes from the trauma of the past that is gathering us in cooperatives. We've been promoting this work for a long time," Rama said.

Rama has also requested the same thing from Albanian farmers, as he said that there will be financial, institutional support and cooperation with the state in this union.

"The municipality is a shareholder in what you had also found the name for, because we were joking there I said look at Dibra United like Manchester but you had found Dibra Origin. If we unite otherwise we cannot face the confrontation that comes with integration. Where will we sell the products, with bags on the streets of Brussels? How will food security be ensured? ", he said.

Rama continued by saying that unity is needed and for this reason we have also decided to provide financial support for unity and an alliance with the state.

" So, in Dibër, the SHPB is built between farmers and the municipality, and the municipality is a shareholder, but it is not a shareholder that takes your profits. Otherwise, we will be able to withstand the big clash when we become part of the EU. We will enter that whole market one by one and we will survive ," said Rama.

The Prime Minister also had a joke for those who view united agricultural societies (UAS) as the cooperatives of the past.

"Now we are forced to enter the phase of unity that makes power. Not like the scoundrels who come around to throw mud at everything, not like the former cooperatives, but like the EU cooperatives ," said Rama.
