Today, the American ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, at the end of her mandate in Albania, is holding a conference with journalists from the diplomatic headquarters.
She expressed that she believes that the day will come when visas will be removed for Albanians who want to travel to the USA.
"The issue of justice reform, the eradication of corruption is the request of the USA for Albania to be a stronger ally. Albania took in the defenseless Afghans. She was the first to volunteer. An extraordinary revelation. You deserve tremendous respect for what you have done.
US-Albania relations have never been stronger. Visits from 3 years are given for 10 years. Over 24 thousand Albanians received 10-year visas. This is a big step forward for travel and business connections. While the Albanians show that they are following the rules for visas, I believe that the day will come when visas will no longer be required at all," she said.
A few months ago, the American ambassador informed that so far more than 22 thousand Albanians have been provided with 10-year visas, where she emphasizes that if the visa rules are respected, more Albanians will have the opportunity to travel to America for reasons such as family visits or to establish business relationships.
