The Municipality of Tirana has decided to extend the deadline for applications for soft loans, following the announcement that the "e-Albania" portal will not function for several days in May.
The decision was made public during a meeting of the Municipal Council by the acting mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani. She said that the new deadline for submitting applications will be May 22, while previously it was anticipated that the process would close on May 19.
According to Ristan, applications for the soft loan program for 2026 began on April 20 and so far around 2,600 applications have been registered through the "e-Albania" portal.
She explained that the extension of the deadline is related to the interruption of the portal's operation from May 15 to 18, a period during which citizens will not be able to apply online.
"As you are aware, the Municipality of Tirana has started the application process for soft loans for 2026. The process started on April 20 and is expected to last until May 19. Applications are made online through the "e-Albania" portal. As of today, 2,600 applications have been made. However, according to an announcement by the "e-Albania" portal and according to the problems it has had, all the days that will be impossible to operate that were announced from May 15-18 will be replaced and the new deadline for the moment is May 22," Ristani declared.
Ristani stated that the Municipality will take measures for other possible extensions of the deadline, if technical problems continue, in order to ensure that no one is left out of the program due to the inability to apply.
"But if there are other needs for extending the deadline, they will be addressed. This is to say that no citizen who tries to become part of this program will be hindered by these technical problems and will be compensated with the appropriate time for each day that E Albania will not function," emphasized Ristani.
According to her, every day that the platform is not functional will be compensated with additional time for citizens who want to become part of the soft loan scheme.
