Xhemal Gjunkshi has reacted to rumors that his appointment as National Security Advisor to the DP, immediately after the meeting with DP figures, was a "purchase" by Sali Berisha.
He says that the comments online are untrue, because as he says, his appointment by Sali Berisha happened about two months ago, long before the so-called "famous coffee" happened.
Full reaction:
Recently, some false comments have been circulating online, implying that my appointment as National Security Advisor to the Democratic Party was made after a coffee meeting with several prominent opposition figures. This is completely untrue.
For public correctness:
1. The appointment of Xhemal Gjunkshi by Dr. Prof. Sali Berisha occurred about two months ago, long before the so-called "famous coffee" took place.
2. This function has nothing to do with bargaining, secret agreements, or political calculations of the moment.
I, Xhemal Gjunkshi, am part of the Democratic Party out of idealism and conviction, not for profit. I have contributed over the years with integrity, correctness, and clear public stances, as a citizen, as an expert, and as a dedicated democrat.
My participation in discussion tables with friends, colleagues, or other democrats is a normal practice of any person active in public life, and does not constitute either new political support or a tactical move.
