Monday seems to be a challenging day for Sali Berisha. If he had agreed to face justice, we would see the former prime minister on December 18 at the door of SPAK, where he would have to sign for the implementation of the security measure "obligation to appear".
But he does not accept this measure and on Monday the way to arrest may be opened. At 12.00, the Mandates and Immunity Council will consider the request of SPAK, where the authorization is requested so that MP Berisha can be placed under a security measure. Berisha has warned of protests and there are signs that there may be an attempt to block the commission.
But no matter how things turn out, his fate is in the hands of 10 deputies, 5 of the majority and 5 of the opposition.
The members of the Council of Mandates are: Lindita Nikolla (SP), Klotilda Bushka (SP), Ermonela Felaj (SP), Arben Pëllumbi (SP), Taulant Balla (SP), Gazmend Bardhi (PD), Enkelejd Alibeaj (PD), Ervin Salianji (PD), Greta Bardeli (PD), Saimir Korreshi (PD)
Substitute members: Xhemal Qefalia (SP), Klevis Xhoxhi (SP), Blerina Gjylameti (SP), Dhurata Çupi (DP Group), Dashnor Sula (DP).
So if we look at the right wing, more precisely the list of Democrats, almost all members have already aligned themselves with Berisha. Only one name makes a difference, Enkelejd Alibeaj. The votes in the Council can be divided 5 to 5 and the plenary session must then decide. But Alibeaj is expected to participate and if he votes in favor of Berisha's arrest, then PD cannot come up with a report on its own.
