The meme posted yesterday on his social network that reflected a photo of the ship "Vlora" on August 8, 1991, with 20 thousand Albanians who landed in Bari, and next to it, the same opposite image: Italian tourists landing in Albania caused controversy in the Italian media.
In an interview for "La Repubblica", Rama said that he had fallen into a trap and that he was not against Italy.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, how did you come to post it on Instagram?
Edi Rama - I fell into a trap. I thought it was the headline of an Italian newspaper. Instead, the social media guys told me it was a meme... I posted it because this is a special moment for us."
In what sense?
"The figures are impressive. Tourism growth is 35% and is heading towards 45%. Only half a million Italians".
Is it your provocation?
"Not against Italy, I'm in love with him. My grandmother had Italian blood and spoke your language to me since I was born. And Italy was the only window to the world outside the bunker of the dictatorship. The TVs were blacked out, but in Vlora in the summer, if the weather was good, we could watch Rai and Telenorba. And we gave up going to the beach. Imagine a dozen kids sitting on the floor in front of my grandparents' black and white TV. Then came the nineties and we discovered Lamerica, like in Gianni Amelio's film.
