Why has Edi Rama started to go off the rails so often when there are journalists in front of him?
It's not the first time it's happened, and the way things are going, it won't be the last either. The political history of Edi Rama proves, on more than one occasion, that whenever the Prime Minister feels tight, he gets out of control and reacts violently. His associates know this better than anyone - the cigarette ashtray that flew over Artan Lame's head from the time of the Tirana Municipality is very famous. Even their own ministers know very well that they eat wood every time "the boss gets angry", ex-wives and ex-girlfriends know it, even the simple employees of the prime minister's administration know it.
In some cases, even journalists know that they have been excluded from press conferences "for a bad biography", as we saw today with the journalist Ambrozia Meta, who has not had a similar confrontation with the prime minister for the first time.
Ambrozia Meta was doing her duty and asked nothing more than one question, which basically summed up the whole truth of Edi Rama's power: his behavior as a boss with the public properties of Albania and Albanians. In response, he received that gang gesture from the Prime Minister, who, in order to vent the whole mess, not only did not apologize, but wrote on Twitter that "I have no apologies to ask for".
But why has Edi Rama started to go off the rails so often when there are journalists in front of him?
Let's take some of the recent cases in order:
In July 2022, Edi Rama did what was neither seen nor heard in a democratic country: he excluded journalist Kevin Muka from his press conferences. The reason was the question he addressed to Olta Xhaçka, then minister, as the wife of a strategic investor, which constituted a violation, for which dismissal was foreseen. Xhaçka was stuck and didn't answer, but Rama got so nervous that he vented all his anger on the journalist by excluding him from the conferences for 3 months?
Was Rama very scared by that question?
Where is Xhaçka today?
He is trying to escape justice.
In January 2021, after trying to hide behind the scandal that erupted on the Italian anti-mafia wiretapping issue, Edi Rama appeared in front of terrified journalists. But not only did he not reply, but he lashed out at the Albanian commentators with insults and curses, calling them "pigs who rot in the studio, who are worse than the criminals themselves".
Rama was very scared even in that case, while the wiretapping is one of the biggest scandals of this government that connects Rama and himself with the heads of the most notorious mafia in the world.
In July 2018, it was again journalist Ambrozia Meta who derailed the Prime Minister.
The question was simple: Saimir Tahiri and Fatmir Xhafaj were accused of involvement in drug trafficking.
Then Rama went completely crazy and the pressure he put on Ambrosia was unparalleled. The result: Saimir Tahiri is in prison, while Fatmir Xhafaj disappeared after the evidence revealed that his brother was deeply involved in drug trafficking.
That's why what happened today, more than the arrogance of a man crazy about power, is the fear he has of the violence that has blocked his door. Edi Rama offended yesterday and tried to touch the journalist Meta as a gangster, but in fact he was running away, running to hide in the car with dark windows because his truth scares him. Even this time, the smoke of Durrës, which Ambrozia asked about, will appear very soon./ Pamphlet
