The "Beqja" case and the "coincidence" of the emergency
Todd Robinson and Altin Dumani /

Todd Robinson's visit today was not a coincidence, but a strong political stance, to stop the attack on SPAK, which is currently coming not only from Berisha, who has no executive power, but also from the majority.

Ilir Beqja, former minister and one of Edi Rama's closest people, is no longer a person under investigation. The SPAK file against him has been closed and sent to court. He is an official defendant in the sterilization case.

This was actually expected because SPAK has been investigating this file for some time. But it was very interesting that Ilir Beqja came out of SPAK in the last session, with a statement, where he instructed the Special Prosecution for Crime and Corruption where to investigate.

Beqja stressed that SPAK should also investigate the aspect of saving that the Sterilization Concession had achieved, and even gave it a period from 2010 to 2013 when the old sterilization laboratory was not working.

In reality, this is too much courage, which even Sali Berisha, who totally contests SPAK, has not done until now. A defendant can normally object to the investigation, but cannot return to the prosecutor.

Ilir Beqja is being investigated for the fact that he gave a company the right to a state contract outside the legal rules of operation.

And for this we must follow the process where the parties will collide, replicate and bring out their truths.

The 'Beqja' case has created a dangerous precedent, where government officials tell prosecutors where they should investigate. But in logic, in the law and the Constitution, there is no reason for this to happen. Because a prosecutor investigates on the facts or arguments he has in the file, not what the investigator suggests. However, what Beqja said was in exact agreement with Edi Rama who addressed SPAK not to investigate the giving of army properties for tourism purposes.

And on this flight, a senior DASH official lands in Tirana, namely the Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Todd Robinson.

Who met today with the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani. And according to the announcement of the American embassy, he "came to reaffirm the commitment of the United States in the fight against corruption and organized crime in Albania. The United States is fully committed to supporting Albania's journey to EU membership through stronger rule of law and increased judicial transparency." So we are not dealing with coincidence, but with a strong political stance, to stop the attack on SPAK, which is currently coming from the majority as well, except from Berisha who has no executive power. A week ago, David Wisner, the US charge d'affaires in Tirana, confirmed the financial support fund, i.e. salaries and bonuses for SPAK and BKH, which clearly means independence from the government./ Pamphlet
