The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, today forwarded to the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, the official response to the invitation to participate in the Peace Board, a new international initiative established under the leadership of the American President.
In his letter to President Trump, Prime Minister Rama expresses his appreciation for the commitment and vision in establishing the Peace Board, as well as his full personal and institutional willingness to contribute to this global effort.
The Prime Minister emphasizes that the Peace Board aims to be a concrete and effective instrument of global leadership, not simply a declarative forum, emphasizing the need for swift action, clear accountability, and commitment at the highest level to peacebuilding.

Republic of Albania Prime Minister Tirana, January 19, 2026 To His Excellency Mr. Donald J. Trump President of the United States of America Washington, DC Dear Mr. President, I am writing to express my deepest appreciation for your strong commitment and visionary leadership in establishing the Peace Board, and to sincerely thank you for the invitation you have extended to me personally to be part of it, as well as for the invitation to my country, the Republic of Albania, to serve as a founding member. At a time when conflict and discord too often dominate the international landscape, peace must be actively shaped, not passively awaited or endlessly discussed in political forums, while around the globe innocent lives are lost needlessly every minute. The Peace Board emerges as the embodiment of this urgent necessity. By simultaneously addressing the immediate consequences of conflicts and the deeper structural causes that produce instability, this initiative has the potential to become a truly transformative model of peacebuilding at the global level. It is clear that, as a new international organization, the Peace Board is not conceived as another forum of declarations, procedures and deferred responsibilities, but as a focused and purposeful instrument of global leadership and accountability. When endlessly filtered through layers of procedures, peace too often arrives too late; this initiative rightly embodies the understanding that time, clarity of mandate and personal responsibility at the highest level are themselves instruments of peace. It is therefore both a privilege and an honor to express my full willingness to contribute to this important effort and to become fully part of a joint commitment aimed at translating vision into action. The Republic of Albania has long been a staunch ally of the United States of America, bound by shared values, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to freedom, democracy, and international security. The Albanian people will always remember and will continually appreciate the principled and decisive role of the United States of America in establishing peace and stability in our region at critical moments in our shared history. In this spirit of enduring partnership, I wish to reiterate that the Republic of Albania stands resolutely alongside the United States of America in all efforts to promote peace, security, and constructive global engagement. Looking forward to contributing to the success of the Peace Board’s mission, please accept, Mr. President and Chairman of the Board, the assurances of my highest consideration.
With respect, Edi Rama
