Prime Minister Edi Rama seems to have no intention of backing down from his plan to reform the judiciary through the "Xhafaj" commission.
The withdrawal of experts from the US was the "icing on the cake" for Rama and Xhafaj, who will have the freedom to do whatever they want.
While all focus is on May 11, the commission continues its activities under the rug, confirming that the big blow will come after the elections. Rama aims to have a solid majority with 84 mandates and then change the laws as he pleases.
Since the beginning of January and until now, the commission has held a series of meetings, and now it seems to have focused on public consultations. So that when the final draft is released, it will be said that this was the opinion of the citizens.
But what is noticeable is that Xhafaj has passed the baton to Etilda Gjonaj. In recent weeks, Xhafaj has withdrawn and it is the member of the Gjonaj commission who has led these activities. On January 21, a meeting was held with UET students, led by Gjonaj. She also led a meeting with students and citizens in Shkodër. Then she stopped at a meeting with civil society, also in Shkodër. The most recent meeting was held in Berat, also with civil society, on February 4.
So the plan is very clear: in the end the commission will come up with an action plan, declaring that it will intervene in “x” laws. Their argument will be that they have consulted the plan with experts, civil society and citizens. But in fact there are some people there who are on orders.
Meanwhile, the plan seems to be something else. The biggest fear is that Rama will use the "Xhafaj" commission to weaken SPAK and use justice according to political interests. /Pamphlet
