The head of the DP, Lulzim Basha, seems to be still in a dilemma whether he will participate in the extraordinary elections for the Municipality of Kukës, which will be held on September 24.
A few hours before the expiration of the deadline to propose a candidate, the Democratic Party of Kukes has come out with a surprise announcement, announcing that they will not present any name to compete for this municipality.
But it didn't take long, while the announcement was deleted from the official Facebook page, hinting that we may have a proposal for a candidate in the last moments.
In the announcement made public on social networks, DP wrote that there will never be a "second beam" of defeat, to the detriment of the democrats and citizens of Kuksia.
In the article, it is underlined that Foltorja hurried with the votes in the primaries and that the candidate was predetermined, therefore the decision not to issue a candidate was made to avoid an even deeper division of the Democrats.
It is worth noting that Emri Vata of the "Together We Win" coalition and Albert Halilaj of the Socialist Party remain in the race.

Democratic Party Kukës Branch, following with high political and moral responsibility the situation created in Kukës; after the rejection by a part of the opposition for a unifying candidate, resident in Kukes and with all the will to produce a winning candidate in the elections of September 24, wants to remind all its members and sympathizers that our position has been constant and only in the interest of the honest democrats of Kukes.
We believe that the race for the leadership of Kuka Municipality is a dignified and missing representation for the free citizens of this country. This race should absolutely not be a race for bargains and oligarchs' heads between Rama's revivalists and Meta's PL beneficiaries.
However, in the circumstances when the PD, its local and central institutions, insisted for more than two months on a comprehensive union of the opposition factors in Kukës, with the sole purpose of returning the local government to the right, at the service of the citizens, every request of ours seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Not everyone had the same will with the Democratic Party. Ignoring the will of the large family of Kukës democrats, the command from Tirana, to the detriment of the interests of Kukës citizens, to protect the interests of individuals and merchants with the oligarchs of Rama, are risking a repeat of May 14.
All of us have lost much of the spirit of conflict, division, self and individual interests. The interest of the democrats and all the citizens of Kukës who want change would be the representation of the entire opposition spectrum for the municipality of Kukës with a single candidate.
Therefore, in the conditions created after the "rush" with predetermined "primaries" and the appointment of the candidate, the Democratic Party is committed without any reservation or prejudice, not to create the conditions for an even deeper division of the Democrats to the detriment of the citizens of Kukes.
In these circumstances, the Democratic Party, with full responsibility, declares that it will not come up with a candidate for the September 24 elections for the Municipality of Kukës.
The Democratic Party will never become the "second beam" of defeat, to the detriment of the democrats and citizens of Kuksia.
The Democratic Party stands strongly in defense of the interests of the people of Kuksi, in their support and is working hard for the revival, unification and unification of all structures. whoever they are.
