Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa has harshly lashed out at Justice Minister Besfor Lamallari following the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja while on duty.
Zhupa has demanded the resignation of Lamallari and Interior Minister Albana Koçiu, accusing them of failing to guarantee the lives of Albanian citizens and justice actors.
The Democrat exploded at Lamallari, telling him that he was acting as a lawyer for a murderer. Zhupa further said that today in our country there is no security for the protection of either a judge or a citizen.
"Shame on you for being here today as the lawyer of a murderer. Shame on you for not heeding the call for help from the Supreme Court of Albania as deputy interior minister. Today, you are not held responsible, along with your colleague, for the murder of the judge who was giving a decision on behalf of the Republic of Albania."
When the state police say they do not have the capacity to protect a judge, what capacity do you have to ensure the lives of Albanian citizens. Today, you are promoted precisely for these failures and irresponsibility for Albanian citizens. These are the results of the justice reform that you say? These are the results of your misgovernance that does not lead the police to protect the state judges.
"We observe a minute of silence, but it does not mean that the Parliament should remain silent. You have exceeded every scenario, and those that were made into movies because Albania today does not offer security. You are both scandalous with the positions you hold. You both should resign ," said Zhupa.
