Republican leader Fatmir Mediu considered the changes in the Electoral Code as preferential. The media said that Edi Rama got what he wanted, but the question is how will we implement the electoral reform now?
" Socialists have made it clear that there is no electoral reform, but what will the opposition do? What is the path that will reach it? There are several issues that are up for discussion ", said Mediu for "News 24".
He said that with Edi Rama as prime minister and with crime, we cannot have free and fair elections.
"Criminals do the electoral campaign, then they get the economic benefits ", said Mediu.
He said that there are unresolved issues since the intimidation of voters, the use of crime in the campaign, that have not received a solution.
Mediu said that it should be sanctioned that the deputy who gets the mandate with the help of crime or by buying votes, loses the mandate, as well as the majority that is proven to have manipulated the elections should not be recognized as such.
Speaking about the vote of the Diaspora, Mediu said that this was not a desire of DP or SP, but it came as the results of the diaspora groups, they are excellent boys and girls who exerted the right pressure and this became possible.
He said that through the formula of the lists of candidates, those candidates whose name will be on the list with preferential votes are not motivated.
"If we had open lists, all the candidates would engage in a campaign, we would have an internal battle, and therefore a bigger job among all the candidates. In this case, what should a candidate commit to, when 1/3 of the list of candidates is fixed", said Mediu.
He then commented on the works of the SP Congress, describing it as a model similar to that of North Korea.
"The model that the opposition should offer should be completely different. What did we see yesterday? A Congress where only One spoke, the others applauded, no one knew anything ," said Mediu.
