The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted after a report a few days ago from the State Department which evaluates the work of SPAK and mentions the accusation raised against the opposition leader.
During a press conference, Berisha said that the DASH report expressed only one fact.
"That report, I don't know who made it, stated a fact. It happened. It stated a fact that it happened. I have denounced it hundreds and thousands of times," Berisha said.
The US Department of State praised Albania's work in the fight against corruption and money laundering. In the 2024 report, according to the State Department, Albania continues to make progress, but calls for the full implementation of reforms. The State Department also emphasizes that Albania must continue implementing judicial reform.
DASH also brings to attention the measure against Sali Berisha and his son-in-law, for the “Partizani” file. This report sinks the former prime minister, saying that SPAK's main achievement was taking him as a defendant in the “Partizani” affair.
“In September 2024, SPAK charged former Prime Minister and designated under the “Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2021” with 7031 (c) Sali Berisha with corruption for official actions for official actions in favor of his family’s interests. SPAK also charged his son-in-law with corruption and money laundering. SPAK seized real estate, bank accounts, and the son-in-law’s shares in companies linked to the corruption ,” the report states.
