Former Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Nikos Xydakis seems to be one of the only officials shedding light on the past of the elected mayor of Himara.
Xydakis says that Beleri is not only not an innocent man, but has a rather dark history. Speaking to ERT, Xydakis said that Beleri is not an innocent man and that it should not become a problem for diplomatic relations between Albania and Greece.
"This story should have been clarified many months ago", said the former deputy foreign minister in the SYRIZA government.
The Greek media reports the statement of the former Greek deputy minister, where he says that Athens and Tirana knew his dark political role and history, implying the Peshkepia massacre.
"Athens and Tirana know the role of Beleri. He is not an innocent man because he has a dark political history. This story should have been clarified many months ago so that there would not be such a crisis in the political relations between Albania and Greece.
The Special Court for the Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime rejected today the new request of the lawyers of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, for freedom.
