Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the EU needs the Western Balkans as much as our region needs the EU.
In the press conference with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, and the European Union Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, Rama stung the Union, stating that it took Russian President Vladimir Putin's aggression in Ukraine for Europe to accelerate the EU integration process.
"Historical day for Albania and Albanians. We don't need a reminder of the importance of working together. This is true in these challenging times when a multitude of crises have approached us with the need to stay together and the need to face ourselves.
Unfortunately, and this cannot be avoided without saying, with Putin's help it was possible that this process was accelerated after the aggression in Ukraine. It was a wake-up call that the illusion of self-sufficiency is just an illusion. You need the Western Balkans as much as we need you.
Today, a historical cornerstone towards the path of complete reunification", said Rama.
