The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a press conference, while also speaking about the electoral farce, focusing on the internal issues of the Democratic Party.
Berisha said that there will be an internal analysis, while adding that after this, functions will be divided in the DP and that all of this will be done with the will of the democrats.
He also spoke about the meeting between Ervin Salianji and Ilir Alimehmet, stating that private meetings are not heard. He also revealed that he had waited for Alimehmet in the office and what he had said to him.
"The Forum has its own purpose, an open meeting and debate. Without filters in front of the cameras with our supporters. There we record their proposals, we note the criticisms they make in order to improve them. In this Forum we exhaust the necessary internal debate in the party, it will take place in every cell. We are not blind. When the elections were over, there were those who had received the salary of a DP MP, other members of the Presidency were employed, as directors and advisors, in the structures of the drug state. These structures themselves know better than I do that they did not work a day during the electoral campaign. There were others who went on vacation or even worked for the SP. These will of course be held accountable. It will be the structures that will determine their position and make all the proposals. We are a party of the values of freedom and we never die.
There will be hundreds of discussions, we will be held accountable, we will give explanations and accounts. It did not happen during the period when we were defending the vote because it was necessary. The day before, in São Paulo, there were four main issues on the agenda, one of which was Albania, now we are in another phase… It remains for our courage and we will show it, these are obvious things. There have been denunciations of people who are working against us, but a campaign is a campaign.
There will be an analysis for every person, each of us. There are things that people, members, sympathizers have a right to… Direct threats have been made against the leaders of the committees. There are others who demanded immediate analysis, there are others who expected to be able to say that these were the best elections in order to deny the electoral farce, to deny dictatorship, but these are slaves. We had the best program in the country… The analysis is done within the party, whether they want it open to the media or not. No private meeting impresses me. No private meeting. In the meantime, every voice within the forums will be heard.
Alimehmeti requested a meeting and I waited for him, Ervin Salianji did not. Alimehmeti did not bring any platform. I told him what I am telling you, we have a statute, a will. I did not give Edi Rama the luxury of material against the OSCE ODIHR report. I promised that I would defend the vote", Berisha stressed.
