A strong political clash erupted this evening in the Olympic Park, where the counting of votes from the diaspora is taking place.
Tensions flared after strong opposition, specifically Flamur Noka, who demanded a halt to the counting of envelopes coming from Greece, considering the process contested. On the other hand, Taulant Balla, representative of the Socialist Party, reacted strongly, defending the legitimacy of the ballots coming from abroad.
To alleviate the crisis, the Central Election Commission, by order of Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, has decided to continue the counting of the other ballots, but to suspend the envelopes from Greece until a second decision is made.
This action aims to avoid escalating the situation and guarantee the continuity of the process without further obstacles. According to sources within the CEC, a final decision on the envelopes from Greece is expected to be made in the coming hours.
