"Mundësia" Party MP Erald Kapri has demanded an account from the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, regarding the instruction to ban skateboards, a matter that has already been sent to the Constitutional Court.
During his speech, Kapri stressed that this decision is penalizing young people who use electric vehicles to go to work or school, describing the instruction as unconstitutional. He also raised concerns about the way the police are implementing this decision, providing concrete examples of cases that, according to him, have been treated unfairly.
According to the opposition MP, this policy is hitting a category of citizens who are trying to adopt more economical and ecological forms of transportation, while institutions, according to him, show double standards in relation to other groups.
"It's been 6 months since the ministry made an unconstitutional decision that shows what your government represents. You decided that all Albanians who circulate on electric vehicles should be stopped and all of them blocked. You went so far as to write to me that the police took the motorcycle from the 17-year-old minor son who had bought an electric motorcycle to go to school, and took him to the police station without the presence of a psychologist and how they gave him no papers about his property.
This shows your model towards these young people who are in the model, who go to work with electric vehicles, which they bought on credit, an electric vehicle means one less car. You only make their lives difficult, you have lost all connection with reality, instead of encouraging them you treat them like criminals. You taunt teenagers as if they were cocaine dealers. You have become a minister with the strong. They will pass by with dozens of luxury cars of young people who do not justify the source, tell me how many of them you have called to the com and asked them to account for the source of their income. This is not a model that you show to young people on skateboards. They are silent, because apparently another project is being prepared for the oligarch on how to catch this growing model", said Kapri.
