Democratic Party MP, Belind Këlliçi, delivered his speech at today's plenary session of the Parliament, accusing the Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, of marked bias in the direction of the proceedings and of a lack of courage in the face of pressure from the majority.
In the absence of the leader of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, Këlliçi stated that he was speaking on behalf of the opposition group and demanded that the minutes of the previous session accurately reflect what happened.
"It is not normal to give the floor twice to Taulant Balla, the leader of the SP group, for the minutes. It is not normal to humiliate yourself like an employee of a soldier of the Elbasan gang," said Këlliçi.
The Democratic MP accused Pelesh of allowing the distortion of the minutes and unfairly excluding opposition MPs from speaking on procedure and for clarifications on the developments of the previous session.
"It has never happened in this hall that the leader is afraid of the opposition's word on procedure and minutes. You don't give the floor to the deputies for these things. Where is the problem that the opposition deputies ask for the floor to reflect what really happened?", added Këlliçi.
He asked the Speaker of the Assembly to "rise to the height of duty" and not allow the conduct of the session to be controlled by the chairman of the SP parliamentary group.
"You are the one leading the session, not the leader of the SP group, Balla. It is your duty to ensure equality and transparency in this hall," Këlliçi emphasized.
